INFANT AND PRIMARY SCHOOL "NOSTRA LLAR".

INFANT AND PRIMARY SCHOOL "NOSTRA LLAR".

The "Nostra Llar" school is located in the city center of Sabadell, a city of 200.000 inhabitants in the metropolitan region of Barcelona. We are a big public Infant and Primary school (nine levels and eighteen classes), with 460 students and 33 teachers. We are a Catalan, democratic and secular school and we believe in the integration of everybody no matter what their abilities and capabilities are. The main language of instruction is Catalan but we teach also in Spanish and English. A part from the ordinary English lessons we teach Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in the lessons of Natural Sciences. The school community (pupils, teachers, parents) has a particular concern on the environmental aspects and contribute to improve them: recycling, energy saving (we have solar panels), taking care of the school garden and eating organic food.

We have participated in different international activities. In the Comenius in Intercultural Communication Argonauts of Europe (2004-2006), we were tutoring the two months school practice of European student teachers. In ETSIZE, some teachers participated in the inservice courses and we received the study visit of 18 European teachers. Our school also hosts the ERASMUS teacher students of the Autonomous University of Barcelona in their teaching practice.
