Modern Education Cooperative
MEC was found by 23 education volunteers in Bursa on 25th July, 1995 to contribute to the solution of current problems in quality education. MEC the first education cooperative of Turkey based fully on solidarity and self help.

MEC owns a kindergarten, a primary school, a cultural center and two dormitories. Alongside the comfortable physical conditions, all these facilities have a modern, democratic and participatory management. The mission of MEC is to raise well educated and socially beneficial generations with an education policy which is adherent to contemporary and universal values indicated by Atatürk, the founder of Turkey and which fully adopts the cooperative principles. In line with this mission, main objectives of MEC are to host and educate successful and needy students in its modern education and training facilities to support young generations in their preparations to become better equipped for life.
3 MART AZİZOĞLU PRIMARY SCHOOL
The school is one of the cooperative’s institutions which was found in 2010 and was constructed on land comprising 17500 square meters in line with the protocol signed with Uludağ University. The school was constructed with a capacity of 34 classes and 816 students.

Besides adopting the main objectives of MEC, the “ Personalized Teaching Model” is applied to maximize the effectiveness of learning in all subjects. All the lessons are supported by technology and more exciting and active with the help of the softwares.

The school has taken part in many international projects though it’s a young institution. The materials that the students are going to use throughout the education year, are chosen attentively according to the Common European Framework standards. In order to provide the accreditation to these standards, the students aged 9-12 have the opportunity to take the Cambridge Young Learners Exams. Moreover, the students have the opportunity to take part in summer programs which is going to be held firstly this year at a well- known language school in the UK to improve their language skills in its natural environment. In addition to these, the students have the opportunity to learn a second language beginning at 4th grade, German or French, whose language learning efforts are accreditated by the international exams, as well.

Lessons

  • Folk Dance, Drama, ICT, Ceramics, Caricature and Chess lessons are provided in addition to Turkish, Math ,English, French, German, Social Studies, Visual Arts, Music and PE lessons.
  • English lessons are provided 10 hours a week. Besides their English Lessons, the students have 2 hours of French or German per week.
