The first Voices Conference was held in Brussels, in March 2013. This was the kick-off conference, where delegates from each of the 13 partner countries met each other for the first time. There was an opportunity to re-state the aims of this important project and to establish the working groups, known as the Thematic Fields.

Since then, much has happened in each of the National Groups. There have been meetings in each country to discuss progress in each of the Thematic Fields. There have been opportunities to involve more people, some from schools and some are students. We call this the VoiceS project because there are many voices. Some are voices across generations, while others are voices of people at different stages of their professional journey.

The work of the conference at the University of Derby is spread across three days. The first day will set the scene and we will have a formal welcome from the University Executive in the Kirtley Building.

On Friday, we begin operations in the Enterprise Conference Centre. This gives the opportunity to meet as a full group, while being able to break out into smaller groups when necessary. Saturday is also a working day, when we hope that a number of local teachers from our member schools will be able to join us. After lunch, some delegates may visit a local historic site, while others may continue working in their Thematic Field or National Groups.

The conference ends on Saturday night with a gala dinner in the Enterprise Centre.
