Output Description:

Intellectual Output 1 (IO1) is an interactive resource: a set of practical recommendations and learning interventions to promote teacher entrepreneurship in primary and secondary schools and in teacher education. These materials will be developed and used in an on-line workshop, in the multiplier events and in the courses C1 for teachers and C2 for teacher training students.

Many pre- and in-service teacher education merely repackage learning curricula and approaches. In this way the curricula are judged to be increasingly poorly positioned to sustain learning futures. Instead, the project involves teachers and students in our European Teacher Network to collaboratively contribute to the design of practical recommendations to promote teacher entrepreneurship and the successive creation and deployment of learning interventions that materialise these recommendations. Participating teachers and students will be able to establish their production of new educational designs, that will not only lead to actual ways to promote their own students’ learning and that of their European colleagues, but will also have an impact on pre- and in-service teacher training to stimulate teacher entrepreneurship in primary and secondary education.

The distinctive transnational co-creation and deployment of educational material involves a significant departure from more traditional models of teacher education. Teacher ownership of the curriculum is key to (designing) entrepreneurial education and to development 21CS and 2020 skills by pupils. This implies that researchers, teacher educators, teachers and students will collaborate in actively making choices in aims, teaching approaches content and materials to create practical recommendations and learning interventions that serve their students’ needs. The project will revitalise schooling and teacher professional development since co-design of these materials are rooted in practice that will be informed by comprehensive theories and empirical evidence. The project draws on the verified teaching and research strengths of each of its partners, permitting the project’s participants to benefit from teaching and tutorial support from very experienced and appropriately credentialed members of academic staff.

In order to facilitate the co-design of practical recommendations and learning interventions to stimulate entrepreneurial teaching a state-of-the-art online learning environment is crucial. This online learning environment consists of a content management system and a (collaborative) learning support system. As a purely content management system the European Teachers Moodle website (www.european-teachers.eu) is a perfect choice, because it also underpins the connection to the European Teacher Network. Moreover, the Network has gained abundant experience in VoiceS in using Moodle as a course management system for international in-service courses. To support IT infused collaborative learning processes, cloud solutions will be employed as an addition to functions offered by Moodle.

Lab 1 is responsible for Output 1. Lab 1 is a development group of 14 persons: 2 researchers, 7 teacher educators, 3 teachers and 1 student, 1 person for technical support of P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5.
